Factory는 2002년 12월 21일 새로운 전시 대안공간으로 첫 발을 내디뎠습니다.
팩토리는 예술의 장르적 구분을 뛰어넘는 새로운 시도와 워크샵과 같은 관객참여형 프로그램을 끊임없이 개발해 나가고 있습니다.

Factory, an art space and art consulting office, was founded in 2002 as Factory Arts & Crafts, and was primarily dedicated to introducing different genres in fine art and design as well as performing arts and developing original design products conceived by different artists.

In 2005, Factory moved its location from Samchung-dong to Hyoja-dong, neighboring the Blue House and Gyeongbok Palace, changed its direction more toward presentation and interpretation of the work of young and upcoming artists in all media and development of audience participation through workshop programs and gallery talks.


Factory seeks to be a vital cultural resource for the City of Seoul and to serve constituencies beyond Seoul with its educational programs, project-based public art projects, publications and international exchange programs.

전시운영계획
Factory는 기획전시 공간으로 한 해에 약 7회의 기획전을 기획위원들과 공동 기획합니다. 전시기획형식은 다양한 작가들의 포트폴리오를 접수 후 기획회의를 통하여 전시공간에 적합한 작가를 선정합니다. 젊고 의식 있는 예술가들의 참신한 작품전, 새로운 시각의 개인 소장 및 수집품에 대한 아카이브형 전시를 지향합니다.

프로젝트
Factory는 작품전시뿐만 아니라 공공미술 성격의 커뮤니티 프로젝트를 자체문화행사로 기획하고 있습니다. 효자동의 독특한 지역적 성격을 정리된 시각으로 보여주는 공공미술프로젝트를 주변의 타 예술관련 단체와 연대하여 기획할 예정입니다. 또한 매년 옥션 등의 행사를 기획해 예술전문가와 일반인에게 미술에 좀더 즐겁고 편하게 접근할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있습니다.

문화상품기획
Factory의 문화상품은 대량 공급되는 디자인 상품에서 탈피해 예술가, 디자이너들이 자신의 이름을 걸고 팩토리와 공동 제작해 나가고 있습니다. 문화상품은 전시와 워크샵 프로그램과의 연계를 통해 더욱 다양하게 개발될 것입니다.
