2006년 10월 19일 (목)부터 11월 9일 (목) 갤러리 팩토리에서 진행되는 일본작가 노부유키 다카하시의 개인전은 기성품을 이용하여 화학적인 변형이나 왜곡을 통해 우리가 쉽게 간과하거나 보이지 않는 이면의 세계를 제시하는 멀티미디어 설치작업으로 이루어진다. 특히 전시관 일층과 이층으로 분리하여 일층에는 그가 지속적으로 해온 사운드 설치작업인 <Voice of Things>의 새로운 버전을 선보이고, 이층에서는 일본식 적산가옥의 형태를 유지하고 있는 갤러리 팩토리의 공간적인 특징을 이용한 천장설치작업을 선보인다.

사운드설치작품 제목: <Voice of Things>
음료수나 세제, 로션, 양념통 같은 일상의 물건들은 나름대로의 소리를 가지고 서로 연결되어 있다. 전시 관람객들은 스위치를 눌러 작지만 각각 다른 소리를 형성하는 이 일상의 용품들에 귀를 기울이게 된다. 우리는 물건의 혹은 사람의 겉모습만으로 그 용도와 성질을 평가하곤 하지만, 흔히 지나치기 쉬운 보이지 않은 부분을 부각시켜 일상의 작은 부분에서도 각기 다른 역할과 존재 의미를 가지는 사물에 대한 개념을 보여준다.
갤러리 이층의 전시내용
천장설치작품 제목: <Rip Up>
티셔츠와 넥타이를 갈기갈기 찢어 갤러리 팩토리의 목재 천장에 신경조직망과 같은 형태로 설치한다. 티셔츠는 오늘날 가장 애용되는 의류의 종류이자 많은 사람들에겐 마치 몸의 표면처럼 작용하기도 한다. 마치 몸의 일부가 천장 위에 펼쳐지듯이 몸에 대한 새로운 시각을 재현하고 재구성해보는 설치작업이다.

“Voice of Things”
Daily necessaries in our personal belongings connect in series circuit generate from the contents of drinks, detergents, lotions and seasonings and then connect the end buzzers. Audiences at the gallery push the switches, so they feel weak sounds from things. We usually look the surface of things, packages, appearances and indications. I will try to show unseen sides of things.

“rip up”
I rip up Tshirts and tie to the ceiling with naked lumbers like a synapse network. Tshirts is one of the popular cloths in these days, so we can say it is one of surface of body. I try to spread body in the air and represent reconstruct new vision of body.

작가 약력
노부유키 다카하시는 일본 아이치대학 및 동대학원을 졸업하고 나고야를 중심으로 설치 및 비디오 작업을 선보이고 있는 멀티미디어 작가이다.
그는 작가이자 2003년 일본 나고야에 개관한 전시대안공간인 플러스갤러리_ + Gallery의 디렉터로서 실험적인 일본의 현대미술의 면모를 소개하는데 중요한 역할을 해오고 있다. 특히 플러스갤러리의 공동 디렉터로서 이중근, 홍영인, 김기라 등 한국의 젊은 작가를 일본 현대미술계에 소개하는데에도 큰 공헌을 하였다. 2002년 이후에는 공공미술 프로젝트의 일환으로 병원이라는 특정 공간 안에 예술을 개입시키는 프로젝트를 꾸준히 진행해 오고 있으며, 2006년 에치고츠마리 트리엔날레_ Echigo-Tsumari Art triennial 2006에서 그의 공공미술 작업을 선보였다. 2006년 아주 바쁜 한 해를 보낸 작가는 2006년 9월 캐나다 토론토 머서 유니언_Mercer Uunion에서 “Voice of Things”라는 전시제목으로 개인전을 가진바 있으며2006년 도쿄 시부야의 원더사이트_Wondersite Shibuya에서의 전시와 영국 런던의 전시공간 셀_ CELL project space의 전시에 참가하였다. 한국에서는 처음으로 2006년 10월 갤러리 팩토리에서 개인전을 갖는다.
Nobuyuki Takahashi
Completed his MFA at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in Japan in 1995. Based in Nagoya Japan, he has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. He mainly creates installations with ready-mades, which he manipulates or alchemically assembles in an attempt to reveal their invisible or unexpected aspects. In 2003, he started an artist-run space +Gallery in Nagoya with two other artists; they have organized many alternative and experimental exhibitions and events. Since 2002, he has also been directing a collaborative project between artists and hospitals (art for the hospital project), exploring and suggesting the potential of art in society.
